A woman is abused every 15 seconds in the United States.
Every year, a group of local women come together to read real-life stories that touch many. The stories we read are not our own; but those of hundreds of women of all ages from all across the world. We are here simply to share those stories with you. Some will make you laugh, others will make you cry. Our mission is to bring awareness to the violence that takes place all over the world and to put a stop to it, once and for all.
Every year, V-Day focuses on a different part of the world where sexual violence is at its worst. In 2010, V-Day is focusing their efforts on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Why Congo you ask? "Congo is the most dangerous place on the planet to be a woman or a girl", according to the V-Day website. The silence is finally being broken. This year's performance of the Vagina Monologues features a Spotlight Monologue which is a true story told by a young girl from DRC, of her personal battle with sexual violence.
These performances could not be made possible without our sponsors. Please visit the "Sponsors" tab to learn more about our supporters!
